Please make sure you enter Courts II side as other club tryouts will be going on at the same time. This entrance is next to Fantasy’s Corp Office towards the middle of the building.

What age will you be on Sept. 1, 2012???

That is the age group you need to tryout for. Whatever age you turn prior to Sept. 1, 2012 that is the age group you are eligible to play for. You may play up age groups, but never down. So for example if you are gong to turn 13 sometime next summer you must tryout for 13u or higher, you may not tryout for 12u even though you are 12 the majority of the season.

Tryout format and what you need to know for our tryouts
Our format is a two to three hour tryout that will involve evaluation of all skills and some competition (scrimmage) near the end depending on the age level of the tryout. Players will be evaluated first on athletic ability, then on skill level, ability to take information (coachability), attitude, hustle, and the ability to make adjustments within the drill and/or skill. We may perform some skills testing, but will not conduct very many due to the time frame and wanting to see the players performance in volleyball as our priority.

We may have a “first cut” at our tryouts if our numbers are high. We do this for two primary reasons, 1st to allow players a chance to go to another tryout since we keep fewer teams than some clubs and we want to see everyone make a team somewhere, 2nd to allow our staff to be as efficient as possible within the tryout.

After the tryout is complete players for each team will be selected. We will select 25-28 players for the age divisions that have two teams, 13-15 players for divisions with one team. We will offer positions to those players immediately after the tryout, all players will know what level of team they made. We select our top alternates in case someone from the top 20 players tells us no or they choose to go to another tryout, we will then hold their position for 24 hours. Each year we have always selected from our alternates, the amount has ranged from 1 to 5 alternates depending on the age group. We DO NOT force anyone to sign a contract or letter of intent with us at this time. We will give these individuals a 24 hr period to tryout for other clubs to see if our club is the club they prefer. If you do sign a letter of intent with us or any club, you are not allowed to tryout for another club, unless the club director of the club you wish not to play for releases you from the letter of intent. We believe it is important for players and parents to find the club that best fits their needs, whether it be competitiveness, travel expectations, financial, or other reasons. We understand we will lose some individuals because we do not make you sign immediately.

What to bring and know for tryouts
All you will need are your VB shoes, kneepads, VB attire and the registration card the GP office emailed back to you after you registered or the confirmation papers after registering (it may take 2-3 weeks to get your registration card). We may have one form for you to fill out at the tryouts. This year there are no extra papers you need to bring since there is now online registration prior to tryouts. If you do not get registered prior to tryouts we will have registration opportunities available to you. You will want to arrive early.
